Unending Sync Attempts on Plane WiFi

When I was on the plane's WiFi, every time I opened the app, it would pop up that it's uploading the local database (to Dropbox), and would stay on that indefinitely, with no way to access the app. The WiFi otherwise worked for iMessage, emails, and web browsing.

I wouldn't mind it being unable to sync then, but it should let me access the app, either by letting me dismiss the syncing popup or automatically dismissing it after a while.

Sounds like the plane wifi interfered with the network traffic, probably slowing it down to an extend that the sync was just very slow.
Not sure what I could do here except adding a dismiss button (feel free to open a feature request for this) but I think it's quite an edge-case. When there is no internet connection at all, the sync would not start in the first place and show the sync UI. But in your case, it sounds like there was some initial connection to the cloud so that the app started the sync but then the connection was so slow, that it just took very long. There are also timeouts in the app that causes the sync to interrupt when there was no data transfer for a given time, so the sync should not take "indefinitely".
