Disable text format options automatically popping up when text is highlighted

Extremely small annoyance, but I often find myself highlighting words or chunks of text to delete or to cut-and-paste, but the text formatting options pop up and, because I'm working quickly, I accidentally bold it instead. Or I find I suddenly can't delete or add a space without moving the mouse to make the pop up go away.

I much prefer to highlight and right-click text to format it, so I'd love it if I could turn this auto pop-up off.

That is actually a bug in the editing control that Microsoft still has to fix at some point. More details here

I actually think this is a large annoyance but I am unable to fix this myself... :/

Would it be possible to have an option for plain text instead of rich text? I presume that this would prevent this issue, though I'm not sure how possible it would be to implement at this point

That would prevent the issue from happening, but it would be quite the workaround. Microsoft has a fix scheduled for their new version of WinUI so I hope they will fix it soon.
